Apeksha Haldia ma’am is founder of
Zayka Ka Tadka visited the NITIE campus virtually on Independence Day at the inauguration
of 16th Mahamandi event of NITIE, to talk about her entrepreneurial journey and
inspire the students.
Ma’am told us about her Journey.
How when she entered the campus in 2007, she did not have any idea about being an entrepreneur.
She told us the challenges she faced. There were twin problems on how to get an
idea and how to generate funding. She said that idea can be anything from
selling bottles, cardboard boxes. Just like a mobile phone cover, someone
manufactures it and are doing quite well for themselves. About the funding she
told about the FDIs are investing in start-ups and to start a business you don’t
require a huge amount of funding. What you want to research can be done on your
mobile phone worth less than Rs.10000. She gave the example of herself, that Zyka
ka Tadka does not have its own studio and the shoot in people’s kitchen and
with their recipes.
Ms Haldia passed out from NITIE in 2009, worked in
P&G for a couple of years. She went to pursue
sports management in the US from the University of Washington and was the first International Student to receive
the Faculty of Merit Award in this field. She had a plan of managing an IPL
team and was on track for it. As she wanted to work in India due to the
opportunity it offers. She had worked previously with companies like
Procter & Gamble, Larsen & Toubro and was a Marketing Consultant with a
VC firm in the USA before she went on to follow what she had always wanted to
do - Become an Entrepreneur in her choice of field.
Ma’am talked about how she got involved in Zyka ka Tadka with her mother and the USP of the show that it was a live cooking show. She talked about how age is not an issue to become an entrepreneur and gave the example of her mother who became an entrepreneur at the age of 56.
Addressing 200 people for the FIRST time on a raised platform needs guts and courage and especially if its your first attempt ever speaking in public. I from personal experience can say it is nerve-wracking! Won't you agree? We all know that who have done this and who haven't done this, even they know.
But to do that at the age of 56, speaking in front of 200 people about your journey, healthy kitchen tips and recipes, is something people can hardly fathom, and that too when all her life, the person had been a housewife which inspired her.
Zayka Ka Tadka is India's first and only Live cooking video platform for moms and homemakers with over 1 million followers. It was recently invited by Facebook India amongst top 10 content creators in food space alongside Sanjeev Kapoor, Archana's Kitchen and Your Food Lab.
